Starling Control

In the past few years Starlings seem to have become a greater nuisance to both businesses and residential areas. They like to flock in large numbers (in the thousands) and will roost together from early evening to early morning. The noise alone is of great nuisance. However it is the particularly large buildup of feces that causes the most problems.

The feces from a Starling contains uric acid. The inevitable build up of feces will corrode stone, metal and masonry. In addition the feces may gather in gutters causing clogged pipes and extensive water damage. Finally, the bacteria, fungal agents and parasites in the feces also pose a serious health risk.

Strategies for Control:

Large flocks can be moved using a well timed, organized scare campaign with noisemakers, pyrotechnics and distress calls. NIMBY will also use Falconry and birds of prey, capture netting, exclusion and ledge protection. Please feel free to give us a call and NIMBY will visit your home or business to discuss the best solution for your particular needs.

Starlings are a major nuisance in urban areas due to their nesting, eating and living habits. When the bird is in its flocking phase, thousands of starlings often overwhelm urban buildings. Large scale buildup of feces from these flocks will lead to structural damage. The uric acid in the feces will corrode stone, metal and masonry. Gutters and drainage pipes clogged with starling nests often backup, causing extensive water damage. The bacteria, fungal agents and parasites in the feces also pose a serious health risk. Starlings can also be very loud and noisy requiring further bird control methods including noise control.

Bird Control Methods:

We use the following methods for control:

Border Collies, Trapping, Netting, Bird Spikes, Auditory Distress / Predator Calls, Falconry, Pyrotechnics, Decoying & Repellents.
